Meeting Our Match: Update #1

Three weeks into our fundraising campaign to complete our NEH matching grant challenge, it’s time for an update! (Not sure what we’re talking about? Read our launch post.)

We are hugely grateful to everyone who has contributed so far – we have received 10 new individual donations (here’s where to do donate), and a number of others have reached out about funded project contributions. We have also signed on our first sustaining member – keep a look out for an official announcement on that front soon!

All of this adds up to our first $3275, or 8% of our $40,000 goal, which equates to an extra $982.50 from the NEH! Remember, every dollar helps our open source, academy owned, community governed platform to operate sustainably for years to come.

Fundraising thermometer showing progress of $3275 or 8% of funds raised toward a $40,000 goal.

Help us keep up the pace by:

  1. Making a one-off individual or organizational donation at our Crowdpower site
  2. Committing to a recurring monthly donation via our Crowdpower site (every donation until June will be matched)
  3. Convincing your organization or institution to join us as a sustaining member
  4. If you are using the Commons for a funded project (or plan to before June), allocating a portion of your budget as a project contribution

Remember, every $3 you contribute is matched with an extra $1 from the NEH, so $33 becomes $44, $99 becomes $132, $1500 becomes $2000 and so on.

If you have questions about any of these options, please don’t hesitate to get in touch! You can reach our Community Development Manager, Zoe Wake Hyde, at wakehyd1@msu.edu.

Thank you from the whole Humanities Commons team for your support.
