For this year’s Global Accessibility Awareness Day, we want to highlight some of the behind-the-scenes work that Knowledge Commons has done or is doing to assess and improve our accessibility:
- We have a new accessibility subpage where we will provide you with transparent updates about our accessibility policies and work.
- In January 2025, we completed a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template and developed a remediation plan and timetable for improving accessibility based on those findings
- We are making continuous improvements to products like KCWorks. For example, we’ve recently improved the ARIA-attributes on some of the upload form fields
- We are shifting left and taking an accessibility-first approach as we design a new look and feel for our main site
- Team members are routinely seeking out and attending accessibility trainings and participating in a variety of technical and advisory communities
We look forward to continuing to improve the KC experience and create accessible ways to connect, create, share, and experiment.
