Become a KC Champion

tl;dr: Today we’re announcing a new individual membership program, KC Champions, available through our storefront.

As we have developed our vision for Knowledge Commons over the years, we have kept one unwavering commitment in view: the core functionality of our platform — including building a profile, sharing work through the repository, hosting WordPress-based websites, and more — is and will always be free of charge to any member, without regard for institutional affiliation, professional credentials, geographic location, or other factors.

Over the years, however, we’ve had a number of members who have expressed their desire for some features that they’d be willing to pay a modest amount for. So we’re making available a trial run of a new program: KC Champions, designed for those members who want just a bit extra and who want to help support us in the process.

As we’ve written previously, we’re a very lean team, keeping a close eye on our operating costs. We’ve been very successful over the years in obtaining project-oriented grant support, but times are what they are, and the availability of philanthropic funding for operating support is scarce.

So we’re looking to you, members of the KC coalition, to help keep us going — and at the same time we’re seeking new ways of supporting you and the work you do on the Commons.

We hope that you’ll consider becoming a KC Champion, and that you’ll let us know if you have ideas for additional benefits that would be meaningful for your use of the platform. Leave your thoughts in the comments below or email us with suggestions!

  1. If I was already sending you money every month, can I have a badge, too?
