Sustainability through Community

Bookshelves filled with books

Our friends at Invest in Open Infrastructure have posted a fantastic case study exploring the ways that Knowledge Commons has worked toward sustainability in recent years, as well as the challenges that we’ve faced in the process.

We are far from alone in facing those challenges; too many open scholarly infrastructure projects are similarly dealing with funding difficulties resulting from grant retractions and shrinking institutional budgets. We believe, though, that our story might be instructive — and even more, that it might help us work toward building the coalition that can sustain open infrastructure for knowledge development, sharing, and preservation.

We hope that you’ll join us — either as an institutional member or an individual Champion — and become part of that coalition. And let us know how we can better support your work. We’ll look forward to hearing from you, and to working with you to ensure that the knowledge we develop remains available to all.
