Governance

In order to ensure that the Commons community has an ongoing voice in the development of the network, as well as ensure that the network remains true to its community-oriented values, we have developed a governance model that relies on two primary bodies: the Participating Organization Council, and the User Advisory Group.

Participating Organization Council

Organizations and institutions that become members of the Commons are entitled to take part in the Participating Organization Council. The Council’s composition and operations are defined by its bylaws.

User Advisory Group

The User Advisory Group represents the interests of end users, including the members of participating organizations. The goals of our User Advisory Group are to:

  • Empower our users to have a larger say in the development of the Commons
  • Create opportunities for our users to connect with our team and within the Commons community
  • Communicate directly with users whose values align with those of the Commons
  • Provide space for the open exchange of knowledge and ideas between the Commons team and our users
