KCWorks Public Beta Information

Known Issues

  • Long upload form that may cause issues with cognitive load for some users. (See “What’s coming” below for more information on how we’re addressing it.)
  • KCWorks search is not currently returning the expected results.
  • Collections are not yet optimized for mobile and small screens.
  • For a subset of users, clicking “add myself” in the creators section will cause the first and last name to populate in the last name field.
  • There are limited notifications on deposits to collections for users and collection administrators.
  • Names with middle initials appear incorrectly in deposit records, the upload form, and when searching by last name. Searches sometimes merge multiple user records in results. For example, John A. Smith appears as “A. Smith, John.”
  • Searches of hyphenated last names do not warrant accurate results.

Known Limitations

  • Microsoft files such as doc/docx, xls/xlsx, and ppt/pptx cannot be previewed in the record page. This is universal due to MS restrictions.
  • Open Office files (.odt, .ods, .sxw) and rich text format (.rtf) files are not currently previewable, though a previewer is on the roadmap in the near future.
  • Email settings in KCWorks are forthcoming in Version 1. You will receive emails if you submit to a collection or if there are comments on an open submission request.

What’s coming in V1 (version 1)?

  • We will release a short-version of the deposit upload form that contains only the DOI-required fields.
  • Upgraded malware scanning of deposits
  • The ability to save a draft on every page of the upload form
  • Improved notifications for collection administrators and manager
